200g chow mein noodles

2 tablespoons sesame oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, thinly sliced

1 bell pepper, julienned

1 carrot, julienned

1 cup cabbage, thinly sliced

1 cup bean sprouts

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sugar

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Method

Step 1

Prepare the chow mein noodles with the information on the packet being followed strictly. When done, remove them from the heat and rinse under cold water, and then let them sit aside. In a large pan or wok, warm sesame oil when the heat is on the medium.

When the vegetables are tender, add in all the ingredients and stir fry for 2-3 more minutes so that the noodles will be nicely coated with the sauce. 

Step 5

Season with salt and pepper according to your taste and preference of the meal you are preparing. Similarly gluten free soy sauce when everything is already hot and blended, take the skillet off fire. Put the vegetarian chow mein immediately to the table and garnish with some chopped green scallions and sesame seeds if needed.
